Bibiani hospital calls for assistance

Bibiani (W/R), Dec 7, GNA - Lack of ultra-sound scan machine is greatly hampering effective and efficient health delivery services at the Bibiani Government Hospital in the Western Region.

The situation has compelled the hospital authorities to refer all pregnancy cases to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, a distance of about 100 kilometres.

Dr Kwaw Ntodi, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, who disclosed this to the GNA at Bibiani, mentioned accommodation for both medical and para-medical staff as one of the problems, which had faced the hospital for a long time and had resulted in excessive workload on the few staff of the hospital.

He, therefore, appealed to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to initiate immediate steps to assist the hospital in solving some of its numerous problems.

Dr Ntodi announced that the hospital has through its internally generated fund, renovated a children's ward to ease congestion. Meanwhile, the hospital recorded a total of 26 diarrhoea cases in October this year and the situation was attributed to poor environmental cleanliness.
