The Member of Parliament for Binduri, Abdulai Abanga, in collaboration with the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) and the Youth Employment Authority (YEA), has successfully trained 54 young individuals in the Binduri Constituency.

The 10-day intensive training was held at Binduri Senior High School and aimed at providing participants with the foundational digital knowledge needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving digital world.

The youth, drawn from various parts of the constituency, received practical training in several digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), effective use of social media, navigating search engines, and understanding digital marketing.

The course also introduced participants to the basics of artificial intelligence, preparing them for a future-driven innovation.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Abdulai Abanga emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of harnessing the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to create opportunities for young people.

He highlighted that digital literacy is key to ensuring the youth in rural areas like Binduri can compete on both a national and global level.

"This initiative is in line with our government's vision, as championed by the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to drive digital transformation in Ghana."

"By equipping the youth with these skills, we are opening doors to new economic and educational opportunities. This program is just the beginning; we plan to expand on these basic skills with more advanced training in the future," he said.

Mr. David Kudjoe, the lead instructor from Ghana Digital Centres Limited, explained that the program was designed to meet the immediate needs of the participants, giving them the tools to operate efficiently in the digital space.

"We have provided the foundational skills necessary to navigate today’s digital environment. The challenge now is for the participants to apply these skills in their daily lives, whether for personal development, entrepreneurship, or further education," he said.

The participants expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the training has significantly improved their understanding of modern technology.

Many shared that they previously had limited access to digital resources and knowledge, and this training has provided them with a solid foundation to explore further learning and career opportunities.

The participants appreciated the Member of Parliament for the initiative and appealed for more of such programmes in the future.

At the end of the program, all participants were awarded certificates of completion. This marked the successful conclusion of the training.

The leadership of the NPP in the Binduri Constituency, represented by its chairman, Mr. Samuel Ayaago, general secretary, Mr. Adams Alhasaan, and youth organizer, Mr. Akaama Lucas, graced the closing ceremony.

They highlighted the exceptional developmental initiative taken by the Member of Parliament and the contribution of Dr. Bawumia to Ghana's digital space.
