Bishop Mixed Junior High School (JHS) on Friday won an inter-schools quiz competition on Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Accra.
It won with 80 points followed by Bishop Girls JHS with 72 points and Korle Gonno Roman Catholic Boys JHS, third with 61 points,Independence Avenue One Junior High School came fourth with 60 points.
The competition organized by American Corner of Ghana Library Authority was aimed at promoting ICT education for students and teachers due to the important role it was playing in facilitating the rapid development of all sectors of the nation.
Mrs Bernice Kuttin-Nuamah, Head of Department at American Corner of Ghana Library Authority, said it was the second time the department had organized an ICT quiz competition for JHS in the metropolis.
She said the American Corner established in partnership with the American Embassy, organized free vacation classes for students and people who want to learn ICT assisted by staff of the department.
Mrs Kuttin-Nuamah noted that there were not sufficient funds to organise such quizzes and award many prizes to the participants but hoped that donors would support with funds to promote ICT learning for students.
She said the prizes included textbooks, books on ICT and pen drives to encourage the students to read more rather than concentrating on the social networks when they access the internet.
Mrs Kuttin-Nuamah congratulated Ms Natasha Armah, who represented Bishop Mixed JHS for her exceptional performance.**
