About 25 people have reportedly died under strange circumstances over a period of time at Ejuratia, a community in the Ashanti Region.
Odikro of Ejuratia, Nana Antwi Boasiako Kwakye Piagyi II, believes a black stool belonging to the people of Mami which is close to Ejuratia, is responsible for the deaths.
He consequently ordered for the removal of the black stool from a house, which is situated at Ejuratia to help stop the deaths and other problems.
According to him, the black stool possesses spiritual powers that had killed several people who are residing in the town.
He claimed that the powers in the black stool had also caused severe socio-economic problems for the people of Ejuratia in recent times.
Nana Kwakye Piagyi II made the revelation in an interview during Kumasi-based Kessben FM programme.
The Ejuratia regent said for some time now, some residents of his town had complained to him about rampant deaths in the area.
According to him, his people told him that a black stool of the Mami people, being kept in a house at Ejuratia, was responsible for the premature deaths.
"As a responsible chief who cares about the welfare of his people, I ordered for the black stool to be removed from Ejuratia immediately," he said.
Nana Kwakye Piagyi II was hopeful that the removal of the black stool would help end the premature deaths and other problems in the town.
Meanwhile, one Nana Bonsu, who claimed to be a linguist at Mami said the Ejuratia chief ordered some boys to forcibly break into the stool room.
Nana Bonsu said ideally, the Ejuratia chief should have ensured that the traditional norms were followed in order to take the stool from Ejuratia.
He told Kessben FM that some of the boys sent by the Ejuratia chief manhandled him when they stormed the room in the afternoon.
"I do not believe that the black stool caused deaths in the town, and even if we should relocate the stool, we should have done it in the night, he added.
