Blame Rawlings, Kufuor for Mahama’s acts of impunity

A member of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Charles Owusu has blamed Ex-Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour for the alleged misdemeanor of the incumbent Head of State.

Charles Owusu bemoaned the loud silence of the two Statesmen over President John Dramani Mahama's comments regarding the people of Ashanti Region.

A couple of days ago, President John Mahama was reported to have insulted Ashantis, claiming that no matter what his government does for them; they will always be ungrateful towards him.

He was also alleged to have said that Ashantis will continue to act as ingrates even if the government constructs gold-plated roads for them.

Following the President's comments, several critics have lambasted his administration and called on him to render an apology to the people of the Region.

But government has refuted claims that the President made any such disparaging remarks and strongly hold the position that the tape was doctored.

Addressing the issue on Oman FM, Charles Owusu chided former Presidents Rawlings and Kufour for refusing to voice their opinions on the matter.

He noted that these Statesmen have had their taste of governance and per their experience should boldly come out to counsel President Mahama to choose his words carefully.

“We should blame President Rawlings and President Kufour…They are behind him. He has their backing, so he won’t listen to anybody and that’s why the man talks with impunity,” he added.
