Kwesi Pratt, Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has held officials at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) responsible for the mass leakage of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers nationwide.

Speaking on Kwami Sefa Kayi's show "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt stated emphatically that the WAEC officials should swallow the bitter pill for causing the country's school children to suffer for their misconduct.

According to him, he won't blame any person than the WAEC authorities who were supposed to secure the examination papers and prevent it from leaking onto the social media.

Kwesi Pratt was worried that the Council has since not adopted better mechanisms to check the leakage of questions and capture culprits. He wondered if the council utilizes any security systems at their offices.

“The principal responsibility is the West African Examination Council. The principal responsibility lies there. It is their duty to secure their work to prevent any malfeasance…WAEC responsibility is that they didn’t set up mechanisms to prevent anybody from WAEC from doing this.”

Mr. Pratt further noted that the cancellation and postponement of the papers will mount pressure on the school children and their parents.
