Bloodbath looms in Tamale as Sunni leader calls for attacks on Shiites

The Tamale is sitting on a time bomb which is ready to explode if government and other stakeholders do not intervene.

There is currently a brewing tension in the community between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims who are drawing daggers at each other over a pronouncement purported to have been made by the Leader of the Sunni Muslims, Sheik Sayeed Abubakar.

Information gathered is that on the day of closing of the Muslims’ Quran Tassir, Sheik Sayeed Abubakar was said to have charged his followers to attack the Shiite Muslims in Tamale.

The decision by the Suuni leader, however, created some tension in the land as the other side, it is gathered, is also preparing to hit back in the same coin.

Few hours of his call for attack the issue generated heated attention on Facebook between members of the two sects The current situation within Tamale, many people believe will not augur well for the people since that, when allowed escalating will lead to loss of lives and properties.

It would be recalled that Dagbon not too long ago came out over 18 year-long conflicts which claimed several lives and properties lost.

The peace and tranquillity which the Region is enjoying now seems to be under attack with the current development erupting from a statement made by the Sunni leader Meanwhile, on that same day, the leader of the Shiite Muslim sect Sheik Dalhu Abdul Mummin urged his people to remain calm and eschew all forms of violence.

According to him, Muslim religion is built on the principles of Love and that followers of Prophet Muhammed must always endeavour to respect that ideal principle.

Sheik Dalhu Abdul Mummin also called on Muslims to be guided by five Principles including Peace, Love, Understanding, Tolerance and Knowledge.

He also called on Muslim and their leaders to always remember to resort to dialogue in dealing with issues as for him, violence is not a better solution to any problem.

SheikDalhu Abdul Mummin also charged the Muslim youth to engage themselves in a profitable venture like tree planting to help in the development change the climate
