A meeting called by the Western Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to discuss party issues was nearly marred by the heated verbal exchanges between the regional Secretary, Charles Bissue and a patron of the party, Mrs. Ernestina Addison.

Sources at the meeting told The Chronicle that when the regional secretary and his team arrived at Takoradi Hotel, venue for the meeting, Mrs. Adission, owner of the facility confronted him (Bissue) demanding to know why she was not informed about the use of her hotel for the meeting.

The Regional Secretary, according to The Chronicle sources, responded that he actually sent information to her through a third party for the use of the hotel for the meeting, but this did not go down well with the Mrs. Addison.

In the ensuing confusion, Mrs. Addission reportedly called two of her children to drive away the regional Secretary, but some of the party people intervened and restored sanity for the smooth conduct of the meeting.

But the Regional Organizer of the party, Mr. Abdul Ganiu speaking in a telephone interview with The Chronicle denied that there were exchanges between the Regional Secretary and Mrs. Addission. Ghniu said he was present from the start of the meeting to the end but he did not see the two exchanging harsh words as being reported.

“I was at the meeting and did not see any such incidence. It might have happened on my blind side,” he said. Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary has refused to speak on the issue when he was contacted by Kyzz Fm.

He told the radio station that he did not want to be drawn into any confrontation and that as Regional Secretary he was aware of the occupational hazard that comes with his work.
