Boa kills hunter

Kaba Ogbe, a 52-year-old hunter at the weekend met his untimely death when a boa he had trapped at Akpafu-Odomi in the Hohoe District attacked and killed him. Superintendent Wilson Alfred Darkwa, of the Hohoe police told newsmen that Ogbe, who lived alone in the forest, found the boa in his trap and sought the assistance of Samuel Kudzo Arko, also a hunter to kill it.

He said Arko shot at the boa, but without waiting for it to die, Ogbe charged and attempted to slash the reptile's throat, and in the process fell into a hole. Superintendent Darkwa said the boa attacked Ogbe, while a frightened Arko rushed to a near-by village to solicit the help of yet another hunter to rescue him.

Superintendent Darkwa said Ogbe was found dead with multiple injuries when Arko arrived with the third hunter, who managed to kill the boa. The deceased had since been buried after a post-mortem examination.
