Board Chairman lauds parents' efforts

Busunya (B/A), Aug. 12, GNA - Mr James Edjei Biney, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Busunya Senior High School in the Nkoranza North District, has commended parents for their role and contributions towards the development of the school.

Mr Biney was addressing members of the board at an end-of-year meeting, held at Busunya at the weekend.

He thanked the parents for providing school buildings and teachers' bungalows, which he said demonstrated their concern and commitment for the education of their children.

The board chairman stressed that since the government alone could not shoulder the development of schools, parents needed to support the provision of necessary facilities in schools.

Mr Biney commended the headmaster of the school, Mr Abubakari Ankomah and staff for their hard work, which had made the school to perform creditably in the West African Senior Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) every year.

He said the best student of the school in the 2009 examination, Master Atta Ernest, who obtained aggregate 10, had been offered admission by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi and Cape Coast University.

He expressed his gratitude to the District Assembly for providing the school with a three unit classroom block and a computer laboratory centre.

Oheneba Kingsley Yeboah, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school said the parents had decided to construct a three-unit pavilion, towards the intake of new students in the next academic year.

He gave the assurance that the parents would continue assisting in the growth of the school.

The Nkoranza District Director of Education, Madam Philippa Banson, thanked the District Assembly, parents and community leaders for their immense contributions towards the development of the school.

"The school has a bright future and all stakeholders must help to move it forward", she said.
