Boniface calls for peaceful enskinment

Tamale, April 20, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, Northern Regional Minister, on Thursday called on the people of Dagbon to make peace their watchword and allow the enskinment of a new regent in Yendi on Friday to go on successfully.

He said Dagbon had lagged behind in development due to conflicts and urged the people to comport themselves in the same manner as they did during the recent Tamale Central by-election and the burial of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, King of Dagbon. Alhaji Boniface, who was speaking to the GNA in Tamale, said: "At this moment tolerance and patience is needed in Dagbon to ensure a lasting peace, which could attract investors to the Region to improve the lives of the people."

The Regional Minister said if the people of Dagbon followed the roadmap to the peace, funds used in keeping peace in the area would go into development.

Alhaji Boniface said the Northern Regional Security Council was still maintaining the 800 security personnel drafted to Yendi to ensure peace and order during the burial of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani. Meanwhile several truckloads of members of Andani and Abudu Royal Families are trooping from Tamale and other towns in Dagbon to Yendi to witness the enskinment.
