Delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who chanted away, calling on Allotey Jacobs, their Regional Chairman to move away from the stage during the party constituency executives delegates conference in Cape Coast South had the shock of their lives when he ignored them and spoke freely without giving a hoot about their “away! away! Away!”.

MyNewsGH.com’s Central Regional Correspondent Asana Gordon who covered the event reported more details.

Mr Allotey Jacobs, however, appealed to the aggrieved delegates to forgive him if he has offended anyone, calling for unity and the need to close ranks irrespective of the outcome of the election.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs who spoke to the media shortly after he moved from the stage told MyNewsGH.com’s Asana Gordon that the main ‘enemy’ is the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) but not members within NDC.

He urged the party activists to remain calm and redeem the image of the party since there is no party for them to go to than the NDC.

In his words, “… when you go to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) you will form a queue so it’s better for you to be with NDC and ensure victory for NDC”, he told NDC members.

I won’t run again

Mr. Allotey Jacobs who has been in politics for 48 years has now said it’s time for him to bow out; not to re-contest for the next regional position, citing that he thinks there is the need for him to pave way for the new people.

“Sometimes there is the need for you to stay at the background and give advice and I sincerely believe that the region will make it up with new faces” he noted, as MyNewsGH.com’s Asana Gordon covered.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs urged party executives and footsoldiers to be committed and loyal to the party to ensure that the party wins the next election to power, asking them to desist from undermining others and blackmailing.
