Tamale, April 28, GNA - A book on the murder of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani 11 and 40 of his elders written by Mr Ibrahim Mahama, a prominent Tamale lawyer and politician, has been launched in Tamale.
The 338-page book, "Murder of an African King- Ya-Na Yakubu Andani 11", chronicles the history of Dagbon, especially the chieftaincy institution, and events and circumstances under which the Overlord of Dagbon was murdered in 2002.
Mr. Mahama, who launched the book himself, said he wrote it when he was in exile in Burkina Faso.
"My main objective.is to expose the cover up scheme of the police, security agencies and the government of former President John Agyekum Kufuor in the murder of the Ya-Na and to expose the diabolical intention of the government to deny justice to the Ya-Na and the victims of the Yendi carnage".
He urged the public to read the book because it is not only about the murder of the Ya-Na but also the behaviour and character of people. He appealed to intellectuals from the north to write so as to document their history to enable others read and understand northerners and to stop thinking that "we are a people without history." Kpan-Na Mahamadu A. Bawa praised Mr Mahama for his contribution to the history of Dagbon and called for justice to be done to the criminal aspect of the murder of the Ya-Na.
