Bosomtwe Rural Bank donates dual desks to school

Beposo (Ash), July 21, GNA - The Bosomtwe Rural Bank at Kuntanase has presented 50 dual desks and 25 double-decked wooden beds, all costing three million cedis, to the Beposo Secondary School in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District.

The presentation formed part of the bank's support for the development of education in its catchment area, the district and the country as a whole.

Making the donation, Mr Francis Azaglo, Supervising Manager of the bank, said in its bid to improve upon the living conditions of the people in its catchment area the bank recently extended electricity to some communities at a total cost of 15 million cedis. He named some of the communities as Abono, Nyameani, Deduako and Kuntanase, the district capital.

Mr S.O. Agyemang, Headmaster of the school who received the items, said the presentation had reconciled the bank and the school. Relations between the bank and school had been strained following the school's refusal to pay back a loan it took from the bank to run the school canteen in 1998.

The case, which was sent to court in November 2002, was withdrawn and settled out of court through the personal intervention of Mr P.I. Manu, Chairman of the school's Board of Governors.

The Headmaster appealed to the bank to adopt the school and nurture it to develop and grow into a well-established school.

Mr Agyemang named some of the problems facing the school as lack of a computer laboratory, dormitory for girls and staff bungalows and a new school bus with bigger seating capacity and many more.

He commended the efforts of Mr Adu-Gyamfi Poku, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe for donating five million cedis towards the maintenance of the school's vehicle and the District Assembly for constructing a classroom block for the school.
