Bosomtwi DCE Honoured

Kuntanase (Ash), August 19, GNA - Mr James Fosu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwi has been honoured by the chiefs and people of Akokofe in the Bosomtwi District of Ashanti for his dedication and commitment to duty. The community presented him with a beautiful Kente cloth and a citation among other gifts to show their appreciation to his hard work which had led to his elevation to DCE. Opanin Appiah Mensah, Krontihene of Akokofe, who made the presentation said until his elevation to the post of DCE, Mr Fosu, a native of the town showed good leadership qualities by spearheading most development activities in the community. He said the entire Akokofe community was not surprised when President Kufuor chose him to manage the affairs of the district adding that the chiefs and people were solidly behind him in all his endeavours.

The Krontihene said the community, through their own initiative last year, generated over GH¢22,000.00 to tar the roads in the town by levying every adult resident GH¢15.00. He said the community was negotiating with the German Development Services to construct a new school block to decongest the local Primary School as well as the provision of bore holes to enhance their standard of living.

The Krontihene urged the staff of the District Assembly to support the DCE to enable him to spearhead the District's development agenda. Mr James Fosu thanked the chiefs and people of Akokofe for the honour done him and pledged to continue the good works. He urged the people to be law abiding and appealed to the chiefs and kingmakers to help resolve an old chieftaincy issue in the area to enable peace to prevail. Mr Joseph Akwasi Assuming, Presiding Member of the District Assembly called on the people to pray for persons in authority to enable them to perform their duties effectively. He said development projects would be shared equally to every community to enhance the development process.
