Workers of the defunct Omnibus Service Authority (OSA) on secondment to Metro Mass Transport (MMT) learnt the lessons of endurance when they were asked to produce sand from the sea at midnight at the company's premises before receiving their appointment letters.
Mr. Hastings Acquah Wilson, the National Traffic Manager of the MMT who ordered the desperate workers to go to the sea at midnight is reported to have waited at his office to welcome those who dared to go to the sea at that odd hour. According to some of the workers, Wilson said he wanted to test their level of alertness for the job by asking them to bring sand from the sea at 12midnight. Desperate to end years of unemployment, some of the workers braved the storm and brought the sand from the sea.
When Public Agenda contacted Wilson, he confirmed that he once jokingly asked some workers to produce sand from the sea as a condition for appointment.
