An 18-year old boy was on Tuesday put before an Accra Circuit Court for conspiring with three others now at large, and robbing one Isaac Afriyie, and Alhassan Yusif of their monies and personal belongings.
Robert Nii Nartey was said to have conspired and robbed Isaac of an amount of GH¢1,500.00 and one Infinix hot 3 mobile phone worth GH¢500.00 and Alhassan of an amount of GH¢2,300.00.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on June 19.
Superintendent Patience Mario, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant, lsaac is a mobile phone dealer, while Alhassan is a scrap dealer and all residents of Kumasi.
The accused Robert and his accomplices, Sheewu, Manarf and one other are all residents of Accra New Town.
He said on May 24, at about 2030 hours, complainants arrived from Kumasi enroute to Madina.
When they alighted at Kwame Nkrumah Circle they took a taxi and ask the driver to take them to Madina.
He said since they did not know Accra very well, the driver drove through New Town and on their way there was a misunderstanding on the fare so the driver drop them to look for a new taxi.
Immediately they got down by the road side, Robert and his accomplices, holding a machete ordered them not to move, the accused marched them to the back of New Town clusters of schools striped them naked, beat them and collected an amount of GH¢800.00 from Isaac and one lnfnix hot 3 mobile phone and also collected an amount of GH¢2,300.00 from Allhassan.
Superintendent Mario said they ordered Isaac to call his relatives to send him mobile money since his money was not enough.
The complainant then called his sister due to orders from the accused that if he tells anybody he is under attacked he would be killed. His sister sent an amount of GH¢700.00 through his mobile phone number 0243354863 at about 0300 hours but because there was no mobile money vendor around accused kept the complainants until the next morning before they led him to New Town Redco down to withdraw the money before releasing them.
Isaac called his brother in Kumasi and informed him about their ordeal and he contacted a friend in Accra to meet them. The friend asked the complainants to lead him to where the incident occurred.
She told the court that on their way to the scene they spotted Robert arrested him and sent him to the Police station.
In his caution statement, he admitted the offence and mentioned the names of his accomplices.
