Atebubu, (B/A) May 7, GNA- The Atebubu District Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has ordered a fetish priest at Bolga-Nkwanta not to deny his 18-year- old son to become a Christian.
The Fetish Priest, Obosomfour Blanda Belindou is said to have asked the senior brother of his son, Daniel Blankorba Belindou to manhandle him for being converted to Christianity.
Mr Samuel Vasco Kwadwo Nyamekye, the Atebubu District Director of CHRAJ who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said on April 27, this year, the victim, Blankorba Belindou received various inhuman and brutal treatments from the father, Obosomfuor Takyi Belindour and his senior brother for being obstinate to their desire for him to remain an idol worshipper.
Mr Nyamekye said the priest admitted preventing the son from worshipping at the Church of Pentecost.
The 18-year-old boy had no alternative than to petition the Atebubu Office of the CHRAJ, seeking redress to fight for his right to freedom of worship as a Ghanaian.
Obosomfour Belindou accepted the claims by his son but wondered why the son who had been helping him in his traditional priesthood should desert him to join the Church of Pentecost.
He explained to the CHRAJ that even apart from refusing to assist him any longer in the fetish job, the son had refused to accompany him to the farm and was always seen engaged in church activities throughout the week.
The priest admitted having infringed the rights of his son, the Commission said.
Mr Nyamekye advised the boy to assist the father in his farming activities apart from Sundays and warned the father never to prevent him from his right of worship.
