Ghana’s former ambassador to Namibia and Botswana Alhaji Haruna Atta has revealed he became addicted to hats after he had undergone a brain surgery.
The diplomat revealed that although the scar is gone, he still has a titanium screw in his head.
He told Bola Ray on Starr Chat that a friend was the first to buy him a hat to cover the bandage around his head when he was returning home from abroad after the surgery.
“It happened about 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with brain tumor and I had to go for surgery in Europe. So when I was returning home, I still had the bandages around my head.”
He added: “so after the surgery I was coming home. I was staying with a friend in London and it was winter and he had said I shouldn’t expose my head so he bought me a cap to cover it. So I wore the cap, looked at myself in the mirror and said this was nice.”
“The scar is gone, and then the titanium screw is here”.
Commending contemporary health solutions, he said “but modern medicine these days, unless you have to die you won’t die because they have solutions for everything. Science handles everything. A few years ago brain tumor would have meant a death sentence. But look at me, 15 years of going on and on and I’m even looking younger.”
