Kuntanase (Ash), Jan. 24, GNA - Stakeholders involved in the development of Lake Bosomtwe on Tuesday met at Kuntanase, to brainstorm on its proper and efficient usage towards achieving maximum benefit. The stakeholders comprising the district assembly, hospitality operators and community leaders, discussed how to maximise the usage of the lake to create an enabling environment, sanitation and cleanliness along the lake among other issues.
Addressing the participants, Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Chief Executive, called for co-operation and support from all the stakeholders for the total development of the lake.
He said there was the need for an information desk to be set up at Abono to help revellers, adding that the assembly would soon engage professional tour guides to assist tourists.
Mr Abdulai Zakari, the District Co-ordinating Director, on his part said the assembly had commissioned a consultant to study alternative livelihood for the people around the lake to aid re-forestation through the planting of Jetropha to support their source of income. He, however, pledged the assembly's support to improve the lives of people in the area and called on the communities to be law-abiding and pay their taxes regularly to enable government to undertake development projects.
