Brakwa citizens in US donate towards projects at home

Brakwa (C/R), Dec. 9, GNA - Brakwa citizens resident in the United States have donated 82.2 million cedis towards development projects at Brakwa in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central Region. They donated 73.1 million cedis towards the provision of potable water while the remaining amount went to provide books and streetlights and incentives for teachers in the area.

Mr Francis Obeng, President of Brakwa Citizens Association in the United States, who made the presentation on behalf of the members, commended Brakwa citizens at home for their contributions towards the development of their community.

Mr Obeng made special mention of Mr Luke Aikins Achenie, Liaison Officer between the Association and the Brakwa Community back home; Mr Andrew Kwaku Aning, President of the Water Project Committee and Mr Isaiah Kwamina Yampson, Chairman of "Brakwa Education Reform Committee". He pledged the support of the citizens abroad towards development programmes at home.

Mr Emmanuel Asiedu, Secretary to the Water Project, who received the cheques on behalf of the community. He urged other citizens elsewhere to emulate their colleagues in the United States.
