The Chiefs and People of Breman Traditional Council have launched their 2017 Odwira festival to generate funds to implement their five-year development plan.
The festival under the theme: “Promoting Citizen Responsibility for the Development of Breman” will commence with activities, including Homecoming, Adae Kesse feast, Health Talk and Walk, free health screening, Inter-Junior High Schools (JHS) Quiz, science and mathematics competition.
Other activities are purification of the Black Stools, Debate on the history of the area, which will be climaxed with grand durbar on 21st October 2017.
Nana Brema Fie III Kyidomhen, Breman Traditional area launch the festival at a ceremony which coincided with the installation of two new sub-chiefs.
Nana Fie III who is also the Development Committee Chairman of the area stated that, the main objectives of this year’s festival was to join their resources together to construct an ultra-modern community centre and to increase funds in an educational endowment fund the traditional Council lead by Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VII Paramount Chief of the area has established.
He therefore called on sons and daughters of the area to fully participate in all activities and also honour their festive obligation in order to achieve the goals set in the development plan.
Libation was later poured to signify the launching and commencement of the festival.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu, VII Paramount Chief of the area, said was destined by their ancestors to bring development to the traditional area.
He said youth entrepreneurship clinic will be organised to help the youth unearth their entrepreneur talents which is tool for employment generation.
He said the winners of the Science and Mathematics competition will be sponsored by the traditional council to United Kingdom (UK) and they will be hosted by Breman Citizens over there for a period.
According to him giving to one society is no longer an option, but a responsibility for all and appealed his people combine spirit, mind, soul and strength to raise the flag of Bremanman high.
