Bridge Water donates educational items to E.P School

Adaklu Have (V/R), July 18, GNA - Government has been called upon to improve infrastructure in rural schools and provide them with teaching and learning materials, to attract teachers and raise academic standards.

Mr. Bismarck Agbeve, Director of Bridge Volta, a non- governmental organisation made the call, when he presented a number of items to Evangelical Presbyterian school at Adaklu-Have on Wednesday. The items which cost 3,000 Ghana cedis include one computer with accessories, 13 boxes of assorted books, cupboards, teaching and learning materials and footballs. Mr. Agbeve observed that pupils in rural schools could also perform academically well if given the needed attention. He appealed to parents to ensure that their wards use their leisure times judiciously.

Mr. Simon Adamah, Chairman of Future Hope Foundation, a community based organisation, an affiliate of Bridge Volta, expressed the hope that the items would help improve upon teaching and learning in the school.

Mr. Ernest Amedor, Headteacher, who received the items said the computer was provided at the right time because Information Communication Technology was now part of the school's curriculum at the basic level. He appealed for the extension of electricity to the school to facilitate teaching and learning. Mr Amedor also asked parents to provide the needs of their wards and take special interest in their studies at home.
