Residents of Denkyira Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central are demanding that their suspended District Chief Executive (DCE) be recalled.
Daniel Appianin who was less than a month in office was sacked over comments supporting the mob action against the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The embattled DCE was reported to have claimed the deceased soldier was leading his colleagues in protecting Chinese Illegal miners contrary to reports he was at Denkyira-Boase to guard against the activities of illegal mining.
“There is a large number of military personnel protecting the Chinese that the lynched soldier is alleged to be part of it, in fact, he is said to be the leader…am shocked they are not briefing you very well but rather claiming they are here to fight galamseyers…,” he said.
“He was the leader of the soldiers protecting the Chinese galamseyers, anyone can confirm it from the police hierarchy here, and the BNI as well…,” he alleged further.
But ahead of the 6-day tour of President Akufo-Addo to the Central and Western Regions, residents of the area are appealing to him to reconsider the suspended DCE.
Chief Linguist for area, Okyeame Kwabena Asare also revealed that residents are happy about the planned visit of the president.
“Everyone in this community is happy about the president’s visit. We feel so relieved. Everybody is doing something to welcome the President. We have been clearing the bushy areas, sweeping and organizing communal labour since last week Monday. Many did not go to church on Sunday but took part in communal labour.”
