British Visa now C500,000

The British High Commission would like to inform all its customers that visa fees will increase with effect from 2 July 2002. New visa fees are being implemented at all British diplomatic missions worldwide following a decision by the British Parliament.

As our visa applicants will be aware, the British High Commission only accepts Barclays Bank Drafts as payment for visa fees. However, to allow time to produce drafts for the new fees, for an interim period applicants will be required to obtain bank drafts for the old visa fee and the top-up ?375,000, it now costs ?450,000. Applicants will therefore need to obtain a Barclays Bank Draft for ?375,000 and pay the remaining ?75,000 in cash at the British High Commission on presentation of the visa application. During the interim period Barclays Bank will charge an administration fee of ?20,000 for the provision of bank drafts.

This will be in addition to the visa fee and will be non-refundable. The British high commission would also like to inform the general public that it will be closed for the Republic Day Holiday on 1 July. The High Commission will reopen, as normal on 2 July. May we also take this opportunity to remind the general public that the Visa Section is open from 7.30 to 10.30 am on week days, Consular Section is open from 7.30am to 12.30pm, whilst all other sections are open from 7.45am to 2.45pm.
