Briton, 59, killed in hotel

A British citizen, name withheld, aged 59, was found dead in his Paloma Hotel room in Accra last Sunday under worrying circumstances.

The deceased was said to have, checked into the hotel on Friday and was last seen on Sunday. A housekeeper of the hotel who went in to clean the place - a routine exercise - was said to have dis­covered blood on the bed and soon found the man naked in the bathroom.

The spectacle, according to the clean­er, suggested that there was a struggle between the deceased and another per­son. His laptop was reportedly damaged and his briefcase opened. The neck of the deceased, Daily Guide gathered, showed a telltale sign of a slit throat with a sharp object.

According to our source, there was also a cut from the right cheek to the left; the hair of a female was also picked at the crime scene and taken away for forensic analysis.

The Nima police, who are handling the case, have refused to talk to the media about the development. One of the officers when contacted on the sub­ject, simply said, "I do not want to talk about the case."

Daily Guide has gathered that a CCTV camera at the hotel captured the images of two persons whose sexes we are withholding so police investigation would not be impeded. The images would definitely assist immensely in the ongoing investigation.

In another development, Patricia Panford, a lady associated with an assortment of police recruitment scan­dals and put on the wanted list of the law enforcement agency for the past two years, has finally been nabbed.

Her interrogation began last Monday at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). She allegedly tricked her victims into believing that she is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Ghana Police Service and managed to swindle dozens of persons.
