Brochure gaffe: I suspect cover-up - Ursula

A member of the parliamentary select committee on communication, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has accused authorities of shielding those responsible for the error-riddled brochures used for Ghana’s 59th Independence Day anniversary.

Acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD) Francis Kwarteng Arthur was fired after he took responsibility and apologised for the errors in the brochures.

But the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West believes Mr Arthur has been scapegoated while the real culprits are being shielded.

She further stated in an interview with Emefa Apawu on Class 91.3FM’s 505 on Thursday 10 March 2016 that: “It is clear that there is some major cover-up going on and the real culprits in that matter are being shielded, and that is why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling for a thorough investigation so we can identify the fault and prevent such occurrences in the future.”

According to her, the development is a “national embarrassment and we have become the butt of jokes around the world just because some people took their eyes off the ball and didn’t pay attention to detail”.

She is, therefore, backing calls for a full inquiry into what the NPP refers to as “the barefaced and embarrassing errors.”

“Who gave the final print approval for this brochure? Which printing house took this document and without proofreading, decided to print so many copies?” she questioned.
