Brong-Ahafo Citizens In North America Unites To Develop Their Region

Citizens of Brong-Ahafo Region, Ghana, residing in Denver, Colorado inaugurated Brong-Ahafo Association on Saturday July 19, 2003 at the Red Lion Hotel in Downtown Denver. The heavily attended function had all the pomp, pageantry and cultural display befitting the occasion.

Speaking at the function, the keynote speaker, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman-Badu II, Dormaahene, currently touring the United States and Canada urged Ghanaians present to be law abiding citizens. He told them not to forget where they came from and employed them contribute their quota to the development of Brong-Ahafo region and Ghana.

Attending the inauguration were members of Brong-Ahafo Associations in various US and Canadian cities, notably Toronto, Canada; Chicago Illinois; New York, NY and Boston MA. The various Brong-Ahafo Organizations utilized the occasion and formed Council of Brong-Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA) with Chicago Illinois as the Association’s temporal head office because of its central location.

In its first meeting held before the Saturday evening festivities, an interim executive board was selected and charged with administration of the Council. The selected interim executives were: Mr. Thomas Tuah of Toronto, President; Mr. Patrick Ohene Gyan of New York, Vice President; Mr. Kwasi Amponsa-Yeboah of Chicago, General-Secretary; Mr. Prince Adjei of New York, Treasurer; Mr. Samuel Tando of Denver, Financial Secretary; Mr. Sadiq Kofi Annor of Denver Publicity Officer.
