Brong Ahafo NHIS launches product to increase patronage

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), March 28, GNA - The Brong Ahafo regional office of the National Health Insurance Scheme, has launched a new product dubbed: 93Ndoboa" for 10 schemes in its Zone Three at Dormaa Ahenkro as part of measures to increase patronage of the Scheme in the Region.

The new move aims to increase patronage from the current 88 to 95 per cent in 2011 in the Region. Under the 93Ndoboa" strategy, three or more officers from each district health insurance scheme would converge in one district to participate in an intensive education programme over a period to get more members registered for the Scheme. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Scheme Manager, Foster Agyei Korang, who launched the programme for District Scheme Managers and their Public Relations Officers at Dormaa-Ahenkro told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the product was aimed at harnessing the potentials of the various districts towards the over-all improvement in patronage of the scheme. He called on the Scheme Managers and Public Relations Officers to employ all available culture-friendly methods to entice eligible persons to register.

This way, the Regional Scheme Manager said, the policy's aim of getting all Ghanaians covered would not only be enhanced but be sustained. He explained that the 91Ndoboa" system, which had been employed by past and present farmers to expand production was capable of providing the schemes a common platform of coordination and exchange of ideas for rapid growth. Mr Agyei Korang appealed to beneficiaries of the schemes to avoid hopping from one facility to the other in search for treatment for their ailments without taking their time to complete the full course of their prescribed medication.

The Dormaa Municipal Scheme Manager, Edward Nkrumah called on his colleague Scheme Managers to follow laid-down procedures in the discharge of their duties to avoid queries. He described the 93Ndoboa" system as a collective measure that could afford all schemes in the region the chance to assess their performance and make corrections where necessary. Other District Schemes captured under the 93Ndoboa" Registration Programme in the Brong-Ahafo Zone Three were Asutifi, Asunafo North and South, Jaman North and South, Tano North and South, Techiman and Berekum. 28 March 11
