The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command on Monday arrested Kwaku Yeboah, a 22-year-old suspected armed robber who escaped while on admission at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.

The fugitive was arrested from his hide out at Kwatire in the Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo Region, 11 days after the Police Constable, who was guarding him at the Hospital, was given a 10-day ultimatum to find him, or else he would be charged for negligence.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, at Sunyani that the Police had been information about the whereabouts of the suspect and proceeded for his arrest at 0200 hours.

He said with him were two young men, whose names were not readily available, in the room dressing the facial wounds of the suspected robber as a result of the beating he received from members of the public on the day of the robbery.

ASP Tawiah said the three suspects had been remanded into Police custody, adding that, the young men would be charged with harbouring a criminal after investigations.

He commended the public for their vigilance, which contributed to the arrest of the suspected armed robber and said the Police could not be operating effectively without their cooperation.

It would be recalled that Yeboah was arrested on May 2, 2016 at about 1930 hours in an unconscious state as he was nearly lynched by an angry mob after he and an accomplice (also on the run), allegedly attacked and robbed a trader in her shop at gun-point, at Ohene Djan, a suburb of Abesim, near Sunyani.

He reportedly snatched away a handbag containing GH?2,500.00.

The suspected robbers in the course of absconding with the booty on a motor bike were spotted by an 18-year- old young man who raised the alarm, which attracted neighbours.

After a hot chase by the mob, Yeboah ran out of luck and was captured whilst his other accomplice managed to escape.

He was rescued by the Police and rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

Yeboah was handcuffed and put on a 24-hour Police guard, whilst still on admission but he managed to escape from the Hospital on Thursday May 5, 2016 at about 2300 hours, leaving the handcuff hanging on the bed.
