Brong Ahafo Presbytery Men's Fellowship Holds Conference

Nkoranza (B/A), July 16, GNA - Mr. Theophilus Seth Tawiah Donkor, President of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Presbytery Men's Fellowship, has urged Christian leaders to live above reproach for the youth to emulate. He gave the advice when he addressed members of the Fellowship at its 26th anniversary delegates' conference at Nkoranza, under the theme, "Put on the whole armour of God - men as the pioneers in the ministry of the Lord". Mr. Donkor expressed regret about the rate at which some Christian leaders occupying government positions engaged in bribery, corruption, alcoholism and other unhealthy lifestyles. He urged members of the fellowship as God's children to eschew such social vices and to allow the teachings of the Holy Bible to control their lives.

Mr. Donkor asked the members to educate the youth in the local churches to shun immorality so they could grow to become useful and responsible citizens. The Reverend Emmanuel K. Osei of the Nkoranza Presbyterian Church called on religious leaders to use the pulpit to help in the proper upbringing of the youth.

He expressed concern about the recent internet fraud or "sakawa" perpetrated by the youth to get rich quick, and implored Christians to pray unceasingly for God to have mercy on all Ghanaians. Colonel Jonas Yaw Asamoah (rtd), national president of the fellowship, commended members for their invaluable roles in uplifting the Presbyterian Church, and urged them to redouble their efforts to win more souls for God.

He reminded members of this year's national conference scheduled for July 30 to August 2, in Sunyani and urged them to attend in their numbers to make the programme a success. Mr. Ernest Nathaniel Bour, the immediate past presbytery president, said since the church was a stakeholder in national development, it was the responsibility of the leaders to educate their members to lead exemplary lives.
