Brong Ahafo elects NDC regional executives

Sunyani, Dec 11, GNA - Prof John Evans Atta Mills, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress in election 2004, has appealed to the new regional executives of the NDC in Brong Ahafo to work harder to ensure that nothing is done to destroy the party's strong organisational foundation in the region. He urged the executives to remain united, focused, committed and dedicated in the performance of their duties to ensure party's victory in the 2008 elections.

Prof Mills was speaking at the regional delegates congress of the party held in Sunyani. He said Ghanaians were fed up with the NPP's mismanagement of the country's economy that had culminated in the general feeling of hardship by the masses. Prof Mills appealed to the party executives to work tirelessly for the party's success in the next general elections and win the 20 seats in the region for the party.

About 171 delegates from 24 constituencies elected new executives for the region. Mr. Agyemang, a Techiman based legal practitioner, was elected the new Regional Chairman following the late withdrawal of his opponent Mr Isaac Adjei-Mensah. Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, was elected First Vice chairman Mr Opoku Atuahene Second Vice Chairman and Vida Boatemaa Anim, Third Vice chairman.

Mr Justice Samuel Adjei won the position of Regional Secretary. Mr Kwesi Oppong Ababio took the Deputy Secretary post, Mr. Hassan Baba, Propaganda Secretary with Mr. Collins Dauda, as his deputy. The position of Treasurer went to Nana Amankwah Nimpong with Nana Brahima as his deputy. Mr. Baba Gausu, was the Regional Organiser, while Mr. Richard Yaw Ofori was elected appointed the Deputy Regional Organiser. Mohammed Seidu retained his position his position as Youth Organiser and Sulemana Owusu, the Deputy Youth Organiser. Madam Zenabu Joyce was elected Women's Organiser with Madam Florence Anim as her deputy.

Mr Agyemang thanked the delegates for electing him and urged members to work hard to enable the party to win the next general elections. Mr J. H. Owusu-Acheampong, a former Minister of Agriculture, said the general living standard of the Ghanaian had worsened and called on the executives to take the good policies of the NDC to the people. Mr Bid Ziedeng , acting General Secretary of the NDC, appealed to the executives to bury their differences.
