Brong Ahafo police reduces crime in the region

Sunyani Feb 04, GNA - Assistant Commissioner of Police Kwasi A. Opare-Addo, Brong Ahafo Regional Commander, has said policing today was not the sole preserve of the service and that it was a partnership between it and the general public.

He said security had assumed a multi dimensional status and as people expected the police to keep armed robbers and other criminals at bay, the police equally expected the people to co-operate by providing useful information that would lead to the arrest of such miscreants. Speaking at an end of year party of the service at the regional police headquarters in Sunyani on Friday, Mr Opare-Addo said last year the regional police command was confronted with a myriad of crimes including highway robberies, mobile phone snatching and rape. But by dint of hard work the police managed to nib many of these crimes in the bud and that was evident during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

"The police command is pleased to record no single robbery, whether on our highways or in the Sunyani municipality - the result of hard work and dedication of the personnel and our colleagues in our sister security institutions and the encouragement of the regional co-ordinating council", Mr Opare-Addo said. He urged the police personnel to continue to work harder than the past year with the support of colleagues in other security services to make this year a crime-free one.

Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, urged members of the general public to support the police in eliminating criminal activities in the region so that people could go about their business activities and other endeavours freely. The Command honoured some personnel for their bravery, hard work and dedication to duty.
