Brong-Ahafo residents rush for police forms

Sunyani, Sept. 20, GNA – There is a rush for enlistment application forms into the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Hundreds of applicants from all parts of the region, in the early hours on Monday, thronged the offices of the Expedited Mail Service (EMS) in Sunyani for the forms.

The applicants, in their 20s, formed a long queue early in the morning and waited for several hours until the EMS office was opened for the sale of the forms.

Tempers flared when an official of the EMS told the prospective police applicants that the police forms would be on sale at 1300 hours because receipts for the forms were not immediately available.

Some of the applicants were not satisfied with the explanation and told the Ghana News Agency on condition of anonymity that they suspected the decision by the official was a ploy to frustrate some of the applicants.

“They want some of us to leave their office with frustration and later sell the police forms to the people, especially those in Sunyani, whom they know,” an applicant from Drobo in Jaman North District said.

The GNFS form, which is being sold at GHC 15, was on sale but demand was poor compared to that of the police form which is selling at GHc30
