Kumasi, Dec. 26, GNA - Primate Seth Adofo, Founder and Leader of Brotherhood Church, has advised supporters of the two parties in the Presidential Election Runoff to be careful about how they would react to the declaration of results.
Primate Adofo advised supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be careful about how they would go about celebrating their victory so that they did not inflame passions.
He said there would definitely be a winner and a loser and each should take the outcome in its stride. Primate Adofo said though emotional control was difficult, whoever came out as a winner, during celebrations should try to be a good winner by not teasing or hooting at the loser, which could degenerate into confusion or provoke vindictiveness.
The Founder of the Church, which has its headquarters in Suntreso in Kumasi, was speaking to newsmen after a special church service to mark Christmas festivities in Kumasi on Friday. He urged supporters of both parties party to also try to be good losers by accepting defeat in good faith so that the peace the nation was enjoying would continue to prevail. Primate Adofo said people should not allow party politics, religious and ethnic affiliations to divide their ranks and that the people should try to maintain the peaceful co-existence, love and unity of purpose and reconciliation and live as one people with a common destiny.
He said the message of Christmas, which was peace, goodwill and sharing, should be seen among Christians as they celebrated the yuletide, adding; "we must try to be each other's keeper and to establish good relations at all levels with our neighbours". 26 Dec. 08
