It is emerging that former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu is not prepared to allow his painful defeat at last week’s Regional Delegates Conference slide easily.

The outspoken NPP stalwart was given an embarrassment of a lifetime when he was dumped with 116 votes he obtained despite optimism he would be retained by delegates from the region who rather went for his contender who polled 312 votes at the close of polls last Saturday at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Prior to last Saturday’s voting, Mr Bugri Naabu had been hospitalized in view of his involvement in a near fatal accident after a political campaign at Sawla and Bole, to seek re-election when his V8 Landcruiser vehicle crashed at Larabanga near Damongo in the West Gonja District.

But soon after the polls, Mohammed A Baantima Samba, according to a member of his campaign team, Simon Salifu Baba went to the house of the injured Bugri Naabu to visit him and to sympathize with him on his accident.

Samba according to SSB as affectionately called, presented GH¢50,000 to the former chairman to help him cater for some of his medical bills but he reportedly turned down the offer for reasons unknown.

“Samba gave him GH¢50,000 on Monday after the elections but he refused to receive the amount. I cannot tell why he did that”, he disclosed on Tamale-based Diamond FM.

Many are however still of the view that he is pained by his defeat and has resolved to have nothing to do with the current chairman who was persuaded by some unnamed individuals to step down but refused.
