The Northern regional Chairman of the opposition NPP Daniel Bugri Naabu has written to the regional secretariat of the party to close down the regional headquarters, Starr News has learnt.
He has subsequently directed that party business be done from his private residence at Fuo, a suburb of Tamale, Starr News’ Northern regional correspondent Eliasu Tanko has reported.
The development comes in the wake of the controversy regarding the alleged embezzlement of some GHC50, 000 party cash by some regional executives, including the chairman.
Starr News sources say Mr. Bugri Naabu has been angered by attempts by some executives to probe why he and the treasurer withdrew the money meant for party activities from the party accounts without informing them.
He however maintains the money was sent to him by the national secretariat to fix his private vehicle which was damaged through party activities.
A meeting to address the impasse ended inconclusively following which the chairman ordered for the closure of the office. He is allegedly accusing the regional secretary of the elephant family of poorly handling party emails.
Meanwhile, Starr News understands there is pressure from the constituency executives of the NPP in the region for Bugri Naabu to cough out the money.
