President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the elevation of the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region to a municipal status after he signed an Executive Instrument to that effect at Sandema, the Municipal Capital.

He said the move was part of efforts to enable the District to achieve more on its human resource development and provide quality livelihood for the development of the area.

President Akufo-Addo said this when he joined the chiefs and people of the Builsa Traditional Area in Sandema on Thursday to celebrate the Annual Feok Festival of victory over slave trade.

He said government was working at promoting development in the area and had planned projects including the Sandema-Navrongo road, which was under construction and the setting-up of 200 agricultural mechanised centres across the country to boost the Planting for Food and Jobs.

The Government had made plans to provide cement companies with subsidy to enable them to supply commodities at cheaper rates for the three regions of the north to enable the people to initiate their own projects, he said.

The President stressed the need to improve quality health services and make it readily available to the people and told them that plans were far advanced to provide the district with a standard hospital that would improve healthcare in the area.

He urged the people to support government and its policies so as to motivate it to formulate more proactive ones that would promote development in every community.
