Bushfire destroys 120 hectares of cocoa

About 120 hectares of cocoa farms at Nyinase Kwafre and Tarabere in the Nkoranza district, have been destroyed by bushfire.
The farms belonged to Nana Kwasi Ankomako, a prominent farmer and Mr Kwame Fosu.
Mr James Effah-Guakro, Assemblyman for the area, told the Ghana News Agency at the weekend that Nana Ankomako is the best cocoa farmer in the Nkoranza district and has received awards at the district's farmers day for the past three years.
The assemblyman appealed to the Ghana Cocoa Board, NADMO and the Nkoranza District Assembly to assist the two victims to rehabilitate their farms.
Meanwhile the two farmers have appealed to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to provide them with cocoa seedlings for re-planting
