Business owners urged to pay health insurance premiums for staff

Assin Adiembra (C/R), Feb. 6, GNA - The Vice chairman of Assin South District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Derrick Owusu-Ambrose has advised farm hands and members of fishing groups to make arrangements with owners of their businesses to pay the health insurance premium on their behalf.

Mr Owusu-Ambrose who is a Pharmacist said the Health Insurance Scheme was the best method of accessing quality health care and said every effort should be made to bring the 'down trodden" that the cash and carry system of health care did not favour.

He was addressing some farmers at Assin Adiembra in the Central Region.

Mr Owusu-Ambrose who is 2004 Best Fish Farmer in the Assin South cautioned those who had been confusing the people about the viability of the scheme to stop the practice since the NHIS was not to benefit members of any political party.

"See the scheme as your saviour and make every effort to belong to it", he advised.

He said the government had invested heavily in it to make the premium affordable and that those who would not patronise it would not benefit from what the government had put into it. Mr Owusu-Ambrose assured the farmers that mechanisms had been put in place to check misappropriation of funds and misuses of drugs.
