Correspondence from Ashanti Region

Joseph Yamin, the National Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the Ashanti Regional demonstration by the party as a successful one.

According to the national executive who joined the Ashanti regional NDC to demonstrate, the party's march was very peaceful until some police officers marred the process with unprofessional conduct.

Condemning the actions of some police officers during the demonstration in the Ashanti region, the national organizer said it wasn't fair for the police to prevent the NDC supporters who were marching peacefully to the EC office. He added that at some point, the police fired gunshots and teargas, injuring some supporters of the party. He said these actions were coupled with the arrest of some NDC supporters, which he described as unfair.

He further expressed joy over the party's ability to submit the petition to the EC, adding that it was time all Ghanaians supported the NDC and other political parties to fight this cause, which is meant for the well-being of all Ghanaians.

"There have been so many anomalies within the electoral register, and our message is simple. We want Ghanaians to understand that their votes are necessary, and it is time we all rose against any attempts to subvert our votes."

He further indicated that they have given the EC a seven-day ultimatum, after which the next line of action will be taken.
