Cape Coast, Sept. 7, GNA - The National Alumni Association of the Cape Coast Polytechnic (C-Poly) over the weekend elected Mr. Samuel Kwame Ansah as its President.
He polled 60 votes to beat his opponent, Mr Ato Incoom who had 11 votes. Also elected were Messrs Christian Donkoh, Vice President; Richard Yeboah, Secretary; Nana Gyasi Organizer; Matthew Korsah, Treasurer and Patrick Mensah Financial Secretary, who will serve a two-year tenure of office.
Addressing the executive members after the elections, Mr Ansah pledged to open an Alumni Office on the C-Poly campus to act as an effective link between the alumni and the polytechnic to help promote the welfare of the institution among other things.
The office would also provide the platform for members to offer meaningful contributions and assistance to the progress of the school, while efforts were made to source funds to be given as grants and bursaries to students carrying out special research.
Mr Ansah said his administration would also organize symposia, lectures, seminars and other social activities to further promote academic and social fraternity among students, the alumni and academia all in its efforts to make the Polytechnic a world class institution.
He appealed to all past students to join the association and contribute their quota to ensure that those now on campus were given the necessary support to excel.
