C/Poly admits first batch of Bachelor of Technology programme students

Cape Coast, Feb. 6, GNA - The first batch of 43 post-diploma students including two women were on Friday matriculated into the School of Engineering to offer a degree programme in Building Technology at the Cape Coast Polytechnic (C/Poly). The students would be awarded degrees in building technology after the 18 months' course.

Professor Robert Kwame Nkum, Rector of the School of Engineering who administered the matriculation oath, congratulated the students and urged them to develop analytical and critical minds because education was not just acquiring knowledge and getting certification. "It is a means by which one's human qualities, spiritual and emotional faculties are fine-tuned for them to develop into fully functional citizens capable of meeting all kinds of challenges in society," he said.

Prof. Nkum advised them to be time conscious, disciplined and responsible to enable the lecturers groom them into productive and well-informed professionals ready to contribute their quota to national development.

He said their performance as pioneers would determine whether the next batch of students would in future get placement in industry.
