Tension is brewing in the Assin Central branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as party executive accuse the failed parliamentary candidate on their party’s ticket Dr. Kofi Blankson of unleashing the police on them to intimate them.

According to them, Dr. Kofi Blankson who doubles as the District Chief Executive for the area unleashed the police on them when they visited his house to console him on his defeat in the just ended elections.

The visit according to the constituency secretary Eric Obeng Hopkins was also to demand account of some items meant for distribution to voters to win their votes but were kept by the parliamentary candidate which the executive believe caused their downfall in the constituency.

The party’s constituency secretary, Eric Obeng Hopkins tells Kasapa News Central regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour that they were saved by security officer of the parliamentary candidate from being manhandled by the police officers dispatched to arrest them as the candidate had told the police the executive were causing trouble in his house.

The executive accuse the DCE cum PC of bad faith arguing his action will weaken further the party in the constituency as a lot of people are already disgruntled because he failed to give such people what was due them in terms of the items that were meant for distribution.

The executive conclude that the non distribution of the items by Dr. Blankson was key to their loss in the just ended elections as they were ill prepared for victory compared to their opponents, the New Patriotic Party.

But Dr. Blankson has denied the allegations levelled against him saying he has not asked the police to arrest anybody and that he only asked the supporters to allow peace to prevail in his house.
