Winneba, May 23, GNA - Mr Eric Apoh, Agona West Constituency Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that the people of Central Region have not regretted voting massively for President John Evans Atta Mills in the 2008 elections. He debunked what he described as the unconstructive criticisms by the opposition New Patriotic Party and other political parties that the NDC had not brought any benefit to the people in the Region and said it was not true.
Mr Apoh told the Ghana News Agency in Winneba on Sunday after an orientation for NDC functionaries in the Central Region, which was organized by the Central Regional Secretariat of the party. The Youth Organizer said his visit to most polling stations in all the 19 constituencies in the Region, has showed that the people have not regretted voting for President Mills. He added that the people of Central Region were rather waiting patiently for the good plans President Mills has for the Region. Mr Apoh assured the people that President Mills had not forgotten that he is a son of the Region and urged them to continue to support him (President Mills).
Mr Apoh also said the people would vote for Professor Mills and the NDC again in the 2012 general elections.
He said the people of Ghana gave President Mills four years mandate to rule and appealed to the people to exercise restraint and stop accusing the government of being slow in turning the economy around. The Youth Organizer appealed to some youth, who have embarked on demonstrations, press conferences and written anonymous letters against District Chief Executives, Ministers and other party functionaries to stop that and ensure unity and stability in the NDC. He urged them to work hard in order to retain the party in power in the next elections adding that if the NDC is in power all their needs would be provided. 23 May 10
