Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED), Ghana, a leading non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to supporting marginalised young women, has donated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) equipment to the Asuansi Technical Institute (ATI) and ten other schools in the Central Region.

The donation is to aid students adequately to be proactive and innovative. The equipment included Science Laboratory Kits, Engineering Kits, Mathematical Software Tools, Robotics Kits, among others.

The donation formed part of CAMFED's commitment to ensure that they contribute significantly to the advancement of STEM education in Ghana and create an enabling environment for students to be innovators.

Speaking during the event, the National Director of CAMFED Ghana, Fairuza Safian, reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to supporting students beyond their secondary school years.

She mentioned that CAMFED did not just bid students farewell after their support in their respective secondary schools, saying, "They ensure that students transition from secondary school to secure better livelihoods that are beneficial to their families, society, and the nation at large."

Fairuza Safian stressed the importance of partnerships in achieving CAMFED's goals and that they thrive on mutual partnerships that ensure the success of their programmes and the wellbeing of females in Ghana.

"I believe that the newly donated equipment aims to significantly enhance the practical learning experiences of students at Asuansi Technical Institute, particularly in the STEM fields, which are increasingly vital in today's technology-driven world.

This donation is part of a broader initiative by us to support students. In all, eleven schools including Aburaman SHS, Abakrampa SHS, Nsabaa SHS, Kwanyako SHS, Methodist SHS, Mankessim SHS, Kwegyir Aggrey SHS, Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya, Mozano SHS, and Gomoa SHS, have benefited from this gesture," she recounted.

For her part, the District Director of Education for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Dr. Mrs. Juliette Dufie Otami, indicated the importance of the government's commitment to integrating STEM into the Core Curriculum of Schools.

According to her, STEM has come to stay, and if beneficiary schools and students don't want to be left behind in the global sphere, then they need to embrace STEM education.

Dr. Dufie Otami acknowledged CAMFED's significant contributions and thanked the National Director of CAMFED, Fairuza Safian, for the gesture.

"CAMFED has demonstrated commitment to supporting students in my District. I can boldly say that these beneficiaries can now gain hands-on experience with the equipment, making their learning more practical and relevant to the real world," she explained.

Meanwhile, all Eleven Principals from the beneficiary schools attended the ceremony, expressing their deep appreciation for CAMFED's ongoing support.

They noted that the donations would greatly enhance the educational experiences of their students, particularly in the Science and Home Economics Departments, and would provide them with the necessary tools to succeed in their studies and future careers.
