CHPS compound to be constructed at Akraman

The chiefs and people of Akraman in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality would soon benefit from a CHPS Compound to end the practice of carrying the sick in the community for long distances to seek health care.

Cutting the sod to begin the construction of the CHPS compound, Mrs Eunice Abuaku, the Municipal Director of Health Services said, the project is being undertaken by Ark Development Organization with funding from the Australian High Commission with the beneficiary community expected to support the project with a communal labour.

Mr Emmanuel Kwaafo Mintah, the Executive Director of Ark Development Organization, a nongovernmental organization expressed his appreciation to the Australian High Commission for initiating and funding the Akraman Electoral Area CHPS Compound project.

He said the project when completed would bring healthcare closer to the people.

He explained that the CHPS compound initiative in Ghana is a national strategy to deliver essentially community-based health service to the people at their doorsteps.

Mr Mintah said its primary focus is communities in deprived sub-districts.

Nana Kofi Gyamfi, Odikro of Asante Kwaku who chaired the function thanked the donors and assured that, the people would support the project through communal labour.
