National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Akamba has challenged the Director General of the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah's ability to investigate the leaked audio recording purported to be the voice of the National Chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.
His comment comes after the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service release a letter of invitation to Mr. Ofosu Ampofo to assist in investigations following a leaked audio recording with a voice purported to be his.
The over two hours audio recording which has become a topical issue in the country is said to have been taken from a meeting held at the NDC headquarters after the violence that marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by election.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo who is alleged to be the one in the audio is heard inciting some executives and members of the NDC to target members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), kidnapping, assassination, waging war on the chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensa and unleashing violence covertly to create the impression that Ghana is not safe under the leadership of President Akufo- Addo as part of the NDC's strategy to regain power in 2020.
Meanwhile, the National Organizer of the NDC, Joshua Akamba in an interview with Boamah Darko on the 'Maakye' show on Hot FM hinted that Mr. Ofosu Ampofo has not received any letter from the CID adding that, it would be biased for the CID to investigate the issue. Although he insisted that the tape had been doctored by the NPP to divert the public's attention from the latest exposé of undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas where government officials were taking brines from galamsey operators, he however questioned the integrity of the CID Boss Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah.
According to him, the CID boss is not qualified to investigate the matter or invite Mr. Ofosu Ampofo since she was once in a similar situation when she was then the deputy director for the CID was heard in an audio purported to be a telephone conversation between her and musician/politician Kwame Asare Obeng also known as A Plus suggesting there was a cover up in the probe of President Akufo- Addo's two deputy Chief of Staffs in the cash for seat saga last year which she denied by challenging the authenticity of the viral audio claiming it had been doctored.
"What does she want to investigate? Wasn't she also accused once for covering up on a corruption allegation where we heard audio recordings of her and A Plus, when she was asked, didn't she say the audio was doctored, it was left at that. No investigations were made to prove whether or not a whole CID boss... So she has no moral right to investigate anything because she is not even fit to hold that position.
Even she said hers was doctored so we (NDC) is also saying that the audio circulating now has been doctored. Our Chairman is a man of integrity and an elder of one of the most prestigious churches in this country and he can not say such things. This is just one of the ploys of the NPP to once again divert attention from the galamsey exposé by Anas which defines their corrupt nature" he said.
