The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has commissioned a resource centre for the Detective Training Academy (DTA) to serve as a reference point.

Commissioner of Police (COP) Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Director General of CID, who commissioned it, said the centre was established to keep reading materials to enhance the work of police investigators.

It has a library and a computer laboratory, which keeps materials such as records of both successful and non-successful cases by personnel for others to learn from during investigations and prosecutions.

COP Addo-Danquah said there would not only be hardcopy materials but also electronic versions and, therefore, advised personnel to make good use of the Centre.

She commended the National Crime Agency of the British High Commission for donating books on crime investigation to the Centre, which would go a long way to improve the skills of the personnel. The CID has also provided a recreational centre for the Academy for trainees and their visitors.

Madam Henrietta Wheal of the British High Commission said the British Prime Minister was committed to helping to ensure peace in Ghana.

Also present at the event were Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr George Tweneboah, the Deputy Director General of CID, Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Commandant of the DTA, and representatives of the various security agencies.
