#CIDbossmustRESIGN: Online petition begins

COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah

A petition has surfaced on www.change.org with petitioners demanding for the immediate removal of Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.

The petition which has gathered 33 signatures so far was started by one Peter Bismark who insists COP Tiwaa must apologise and resign from her position for giving Ghanaians, especially the families of the three kidnapped girls false hope on their whereabouts.

He described the CID boss’ comments as ‘unmeasured security communication’ adding that it came at a time “when families and the public are disturbed of the whereabouts of the kidnapped children”.

“Security integrity is very important in building trust between the public and the security services. COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah , can’t joke with sensitive security issues of the State. She and her men are clearly complicit in maintaining the expectations of perfect results while knowing full well that such outcomes are simply impossible. Her presence in that high office is clear indication the Ghana Police Service is facing a crisis of institutional integrity,” he noted.

The CID boss told journalists in April that the police have been able to locate where the three girls kidnapped in Takoradi in 2018 were being kept assuring their families that they will soon return home.

Over a month after her comment, there hasn’t been any news of when the girls are returning home, a situation that is agitating the families and Ghanaians at large who say the police led them on for nothing.

But COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah insists her comments were misconstrued.

Resign - CID Boss of Ghana Police Service

Leaders lie “in the routine performance of their duties,” and “ethical and moral transgressions [occur] across all levels” of the organization. Leaders have also become “ethically numb,” using “justifications and rationalizations” to overcome any ethical doubts. This “tacit acceptance of dishonesty… [facilitates] hypocrisy” among leaders (BB, 2015). This is not far from what's happening with the ongoing rescuing agenda of the Ghana Police Service for the kidnapping girls in Takoradi - Ghana.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) - Ghana Police Service, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah addressing journalists at a press conference on Tuesday, 2nd April 2019, said the police know the whereabouts of the girls but will not disclose it for their safety.

“It’s taken us over three months to even identify where the ladies are, and what we don’t want to do is do anything that will jeopardise the safety of that. So we are working very hard. All the stakeholders who are supposed to be on board are on board and hopefully, the girls will be brought back safe and sound,” COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said.WATCH VIDEO: https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/We-know-the-location-of-Tadi-kidnapped-girls-CID-735205

The news came as a relief to the families and Ghanaians. Pressure started mounting on the police to disclose the whereabouts of the girls. But the CID boss in a new twist says the girls were yet to be found. In an audio recording played on Joy FM’s midday news on Monday, May 13, 2019, the CID boss is heard in saying in Twi that people had misconstrued her earlier statement that the police had found the three missing girls.

Priscilla Blessing Bentum was first kidnapped on August 17th 2018, while Ruthlove Quayeson was kidnapped on December 4, 2018 and Priscilla Mantsebeah Koranchie also kidnapped on December 21st 2018.

Kidnapping is a noteworthy sort of vicious wrongdoing and can have destabilizing impacts on the economic and political presence of the general public. This kind of crime can cause disturbance of social harmony. Lately for example, abducting unfortunate casualties, their families and different local people in capturing inclined territories, for example, in Takoradi, Accra and a few sections of Volta Regions live under dread since some individual criminals and grab packs utilize unnecessary savagery on their exploited people to accomplish their points and the killings of the Marketing and Public Affairs Manager at the Tema Port, Josephine Asante, assassination of Ace Journalist Ahmed Suale of Tiger Eye PI, and the senior staff of Ghana water company Joseph Migal Jinjer (Myjoyonline, 2019)

The crime of kidnapping has been distinguished as a standout amongst the most hazardous developing violations fastly building up itself around.

Security integrity is very important in building trust between the public and the security services. COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah , can’t joke with sensitive security issues of the State. She and her men are clearly complicit in maintaining the expectations of perfect results while knowing full well that such outcomes are simply impossible. Her presence in that high office is clear indication the Ghana Police Service is facing a crisis of institutional integrity.

We never expected to hear such unmeasured security communication from her at a time when families and the public are disturbed of the whereabouts of the kidnapped children.

She must apologize and resign!!
